Letter read to the Fall Mountain Regional School Board on January 14, 2013 from the Walpole Site Based Committee
Good evening. My name
is Sarah Manning. I am a representative and
chairperson for the Walpole School Site-Based Committee.
At our January 2, 2013, meeting, the Walpole Site-Based Committee
discussed the school district’s proposed school budget and teachers’
contract. The committee commends the
school staff, administration and school board for presenting to the residents
of the Fall Mountain Regional School District with a fair and reasonable 2013-2014
school budget.
We understand the difficult situation you were all placed in,
when the district lost over $400,000.00 dollars in state equitable aid. We understand that the proposed budget is not
driven by increased expenditures, but the loss of revenues. I am sure difficult decisions were made by
all of you in this process. We
appreciate that you are all being fiscally responsible to the tax players, yet
ensuring that our children have a quality educational experience.
The site-based committee will promote the passage of the
proposed budget and teachers’ contract. If
we can assist the school board in any way, please do not hesitate to contact
